Teacher Qualifications
Our teachers are certified in first aid and rescue breathing and are certified annually by a practicing physician to be free from any disability which would prevent them from caring for children. All staff and volunteers have been passed a criminal records check.
Additionally, our teachers are committed Christians who promote integrity, respect and social skills in a nurturing environment.
Sharon Wampler
Director
Mrs. Wampler graduated with a degree in Music Education K-12 from James Madison University and holds a Virginia teaching license. She has 16 years teaching experience in grades K-8, is certified in Orff and trained in Kodaly music philosophies. She has directed Harrisonburg Baptist Preschool for over 17 years.
Additionally, Mrs. Wampler is certified by the Virginia Department of Education. She is certified in Basic First Aid, CPR/AED, and Recognizing and Reporting Child Abuse and Neglect. She also has had Medical Administration Teaching (MAT).
Jeannie Petit
associate teacher
Mrs. Petit has been involved with Harrisonburg Baptist Preschool and public school programs for many years as a parent, substitute teacher, and committee member. She has a genuine concern for the well-being of the children and the skills that they learn through socialization, directed play, and activities that occur as a part of this program. She has been Harrisonburg Baptist Preschool’s associate teacher for over 16 years.
Mrs. Petit is certified by the Virginia Department of Education. She is certified in Basic First Aid, CPR/AED, and Recognizing and Reporting Child Abuse and Neglect.
